Frequently asked questions
Do they hurt?
Closed colon hydrotherapy is not painful, nor should it be. They can feel unusual at first with some mild discomfort, like cramping, can occur when the body is ready to release waste or gas, similar to period or bowel pain. These sensations are brief, and your therapist will support you throughout. You'll feel slight pressure (not pain) when the speculum is inserted, but no force is used. It simply rests in the rectum and doesn’t go up into the bowel.
During the session, warm water flows in and out gently in a cycle of filling and releasing. As your belly fills, you may feel the urge to poop—this is normal! Your job is to relax while the therapist, water, and tubing do the work. Your therapist will continue to monitor your comfort levels throughout the treatment. They will provide aftercare session information to assist with any discomfort, if any arise.

Can this harm my bowel?
We combine closed colon hydrotherapy with hydration, supplements, diet, movement, and lifestyle guidance to help you achieve healthy, independent bowel function—without reliance on stimulants. The speculum is inserted only into the rectum, ensuring safety with no risk of bowel perforation. The colon, or large intestine, is a muscle that naturally contracts and expands (peristalsis) to move waste through the body. Your bowel never expands beyond its capacity, and your therapist carefully monitors water flow, pressure, and comfort. You will be provided with aftercare advice once the session is completed.

Will I have a poop accident? And what about smell?
Colonics often bring wild misconceptions—mess, odor, or embarrassment—but colonics are safe, sanitary, and discreet. Each session varies based on hydration, blockages, and buildup. Some sessions bring a big release, while others don’t. Anything not eliminated during the colonic can pass naturally on the toilet afterward. Waste and gas flow through a sealed system, ensuring no mess or smell. After your session, your therapist will guide you to the toilet, where using a foot stool can help fully empty your bowel. The remaining stool release may be liquid, solid, or gas—each session is unique. It can be a pretty fascinating experience to watch!
Will good bacteria be removed?
Closed colon hydrotherapy doesn’t sterilize the bowel—it supports a healthy, diverse microbiome. Your body constantly sheds dead cells and bacteria, which make up to two-thirds of your stool. Closed colon hydrotherapy helps clear waste, toxins, yeast, bacterial overgrowth, its much like weeding a garden or taking out the trash. Left unchecked, buildup can contribute to gut dysbiosis, autoimmune issues, mood disorders, inflammation, and more. We like to focus on creating a balanced inner terrain where you—and your good bacteria—can thrive!
